Manchester 235 Casino Review Continued...
Location Map and Nearby Casinos
Layout and outdoor areas
The casino is split over two floors. When you walk in you’ll find all of the poker players on the first floor in the poker lounge. The space is well lit and has room for up to 10 poker tables. This allows beginners to feel comfortable, but also allows for the more advanced players to ply their trade. Cash games are available every day, and Texas Hold’Em tournaments are held three times a week. Having played in a few poker tournaments you’ll see quite a good standard here.
As you take the escalator upstairs, this is where you start to hear and feel the real buzz of the casino floor. The space really starts to open out, with the casino games on the right hand side, and the bar and restaurants towards the back. Whilst upstairs is more open, it’s got the same feel as the poker lounge; the modern feel and designer furnishings continue.
You’ll find all of the games expected at a top casino; blackjack, roulette, slot machines, three card poker, and punto banco. There are 22 gaming tables, 18 slot machines, and 37 electronic gaming terminals. As usual the blackjack and roulette tables are the most popular, however there are fewer tables than you may expect. This means that at peak times it can be difficult to get a place at the table and expect to hang back for about ten to fifteen minutes before getting a space. If you’re new to all things casino they do a great starter experience package which includes blackjack and roulette lessons from a croupier, along with a free bet, drinks and dinner. Even if you’re not a beginner you can still expect to learn a thing or two!
There is only a small outdoor space for smoking, a cordoned off area next to the main entrance.
Atmosphere and amenities
At peak times there is a great buzz on the casino floor. Whilst it can get really busy, this is not an issue because of the amount of space. Pair this with the modern interior, and this becomes a really exciting space to spend your evening.
Restaurants and Bars
Next to the casino you’ll find the main bar area. This is quite big and spread out which allows punters to relax, and it serves a great cocktail. If you’re lucky enough to get an invite, there is also an exclusive VIP bar area. The casino’s flagship restaurant which has recently opened is James Martin Manchester The restaurant is set back on its own mezzanine floor, and the food is as expected; British, rich, and although the portions are small they’re really tasty. Even if you’re not in the mood for a bet, this is still a great place to come for a meal alone which most people don’t expect. If this doesn’t tempt you, then there is also a Chinese restaurant called Ocean Treasure to keep you happy.
The casino has a DJ in the main bar area every Monday, Friday and Saturday. They play ‘Miami beach house vibes’, along with current chart hits. Whilst the music is welcome, it can be a bit overpowering if you’re still sitting at dinner as the bar is right next to one of the restaurants.
The staff help to make the atmosphere feel more relaxed. The croupiers are happy to share a joke, and also help with advice when players are unsure what to do. The majority are also experienced and well trained, and the dealing routines are generally quick.
Manchester 235 Casino Summary
Overall the casino has a great range of facilities and if you’ve not been to a casino in Manchester before, then Manchester 235 is well worth a visit, especially as the central location makes it so easily accessible. The gaming experience is great, but the number of open tables could be increased to reduce the wait at peak times. However the decor, the buzz about the place, and the food and drink still make this casino one of the leading venues in the UK.
