The 48th edition of the World Series of Poker, the world-famous tournament held annually in Las Vegas and which attracts the poker world’s elite, will officially begin on 30th May, 2017. Held at the luxurious Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, the tournament will run until 17th July, with a total of 49 days of poker action. It will then take a break and return in November for the climax of the action.
"We want to wish everyone Happy Holidays and best wishes for a safe and successful 2017," WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart said when announcing the dates for WSOP 2017. "We are busy trying to finalise the entire 2017 WSOP schedule. We anticipate a similar series to last year with a few new wrinkles, but ensuring a broad array of options to satisfy every potential participant."
More than 70 tournaments will be held during WSOP 2017, with cash games kicking off on Tuesday, 30th May, 2017. On 31st May, the Casino Employees event — a $565 buy in no-limit hold’em tournament — will be held, and will run for two days.
Fans of the tournament will be pleased to learn that a number of popular events from previous years will be returning in 2017, including Millionaire Maker, Monster Stack and the Ladies Championship. The Seniors Event, which will feature a $1,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em format, will be held on 16th June while the tournament’s main event, No-Limit Hold’em Championship, will officially begin on 8th July. With a buy-in of $10,000, the heat will be on right from the start, but you can guarantee that the grand prize — which was won last year by Vietnam’s Qui Nguyen, who walked away with an incredible $8,005,310 — will be big.
More details about WSOP 2017 are expected to be released in February next year. Individual event online pre-registration will begin in March.
