Winners Announced for 2016 Global Gaming Awards

The 2016 Global Gaming Awards were presented at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas last week, and winners included several companies that will be very familiar to online gaming enthusiasts in the UK. These awards were created ‘to recognise and reward innovation and achievement across both the digital and land-based gaming sectors’, and this year there were winners in twelve different categories.

The award for Best Digital Operator went to 888 Holdings for, and the way in which it has expanded its operations in the last twelve months. Commenting on the award, Itai Frieberger, who is Chief Executive Officer of 888 Holdings, said: ‘We are delighted to have received such an esteemed recognition, which is testament to our ongoing commitment to providing our players with an exceptional online poker platform and world-class user experience.’

Microgaming won the award for Best Digital Product for its Quickfire multi-operator platform, which supports its complete range of poker, casino, live dealer, bingo, mobile, and multiplayer software. ‘This win highlights the incredible progress of Quickfire since launching in 2010,’ said Andrew Clucas, who is Director of Quickfire at Microgaming. ‘The platform has emerged as the product of choice for operators who require immediate access to the best online gaming content from Microgaming and select development partners. It’s great to see the industry celebrate the content, flexibility and innovation of Quickfire.’

Playtech was named Best Digital Industry Supplier for its gaming portfolio, its ability to generate new business and its Playtech ONE omni-channel offering. Shimon Akad, who is Chief Operating Officer at the company, said that: ‘The award is recognition of our core focus for continued innovation. The past 12 months has been another record-breaking year and we are delighted to be rewarded with this highly sought after title.’
