Southend Awaits New Casino

The Essex town of Southend-on-Sea is counting down to the opening of a brand new 24 hour Grosvenor Casino, which is expected to take place on Friday 18 September. The seaside town already has one successful venue in The Rendevous at The Kurzal, but another venue that provides the public with even greater choice is no bad thing, and local traders are just as keen to see the casino open as the players themselves.

As you would expect from a 24 hour venue, the new casino will offer more than just games, and the Grosvenor company is describing it as a day-and-night leisure destination. The Grosvenor Southend, which is situated on the sea front of the town, will boast a coffee lounge and late night bar as well as an in-house restaurant, and it is likely to become a popular place to hold parties and private functions.

The casino is reported to be creating around 100 jobs in the area, and if it attracts more visitors to the town when it is open (as it is very likely to) the additional traffic will no doubt benefit other businesses, strengthening the local economy even further.

As far as casino players are concerned, the Grosvenor Southend will offer slots, electronic roulette, table games and sports betting facilities. It will also have a 100 seat poker room, which is sure to be of benefit to the local poker scene.

It is hoped that the new casino, along with a new multiplex cinema in the town, will breathe new life into the area. The more investment Southend receives, the better, local traders say, and it will be interesting to see whether or not these latest developments lead to even bigger things for the town in the future.

We wish the Grosvenor Casino Southend every success when it opens its doors this Autumn. In the meantime, and for those of you who prefer to play from the comfort of your own own home, feel free to check out our review of the Grosvenor Casino online.
