Saw Close Casino Fire
The £5 million development suffered a scare in July when a fire broke out on the ground floor. Fortunately, the fire – the cause of which was said to be arson – was dealt with relatively quickly, and didn’t cause enough damage to delay completion of the project.
When the hoarding comes down next month, the owners of the casino, restaurants and hotel will be free to move in and begin work on their respective interiors, and it is expected that the development’s first restaurant, which will be a branch of the Zizzi chain, could be open by Christmas.
Casinos in Bath
The Saw Close Casino will be the first casino in Bath, and it is hoped that it will help to make the city more appealing as a destination for night time entertainment. Currently, anyone who fancies visiting a casino in the area must head to Bristol, which currently has three venues; the Genting Casino, Grosvenor Casino and Rainbow Casino.
Whilst there is still some way to go before casino enthusiasts in Bath will be able to play their favourite games on their own turf, it is good to know that the Saw Close venue is on track to be completed on time, and that the first business on the development could be open by the end of the year. We look forward to the big opening next year, and to exploring the venue when the time comes.
