New Jersey regulators have approved a plan to establish a multi-state progressive jackpot network for offline slots players. The Powerbucks network will be jointly operated by Caesars Entertainment Corporation, which is famous for its various chains of casinos and resorts, and IGT, which is just as famous for being the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of gaming hardware and software. That is an impressive partnership and one that is more than capable of turning the ambitious Powerbucks vision into reality.

What is that vision? In a nutshell, the plan is for multiple participating states to share a common Powerbucks progressive jackpot, in much the same way that participating states in the USA share a common jackpot in the Powerball lottery game. It is hoped, and reasonably so, that having a broad base of players in multiple states will help the networked slots jackpot to grow faster and bigger than any other. To be more specific, it is hoped that the Powerbucks jackpot will reach levels more commonly associated with the likes of the Powerball lottery game mentioned a moment ago.

If those lofty expectations are met, the existing record for the biggest slots jackpot win – which has stood at $39 million since 2003 – could be shattered relatively quickly. Indeed, some commentators believe that the Powerbucks jackpot has the potential to climb to $100 million or even more. Whether that prediction comes true or not will depend largely on the number of players that choose to embrace the multi-state jackpot concept, but given the popularity of slots games and lottery jackpots it definitely sounds like a plausible scenario.

IGT has already enjoyed great success with plenty of progressive jackpot games, including the extremely popular Mega Jackpots  titles online, which boasts a base reset value of £500,000. Caesars Entertainment is equally successful in the casino management and hospitality business, so together the two companies could well turn the Powerbuck concept into something very special indeed.

Early reports suggest that the Powerbucks network will initially be established in the states of New Jersey and Nevada, with additional states joining at a later date. We don't yet know when it will be up and running, but we will obviously keep you informed about major developments as they happen. In the meantime, feel free to check out our Caesars Casino review if you fancy exploring the brand's offering online.
