Last October, NetEnt launched Red Riding Hood, which was the first title in its Fairytale Legends trilogy of games. Now, some six months later, the company has released the follow-up, the Hansel and Gretel slot. The third and final slot will complete the trilogy later this year, but for now, all eyes are on the fairytale at hand, so follow the breadcrumbs and find out what you can expect from the latest game if you choose to play it over the coming Bank Holiday weekend…

Hansel and Gretel is a five-reel, three-row slot, which is based on the famous German fairy tale that was first set down in writing by the Brothers Grimm. The story tells of a young brother and sister who go wandering through the woods and end up being imprisoned by a witch who intends to fatten them up and eat them. Eventually, Hansel and Gretel kill the witch and escape – taking a container of jewels with them – and they return home to their father and live happily ever after.

This slots version of the famous story has all the elements that fans of the Brothers Grimm tale would expect. The reels float against a dark and eerie woodland background, and symbols include jewels of various colours and shapes, the Fairytale Legends logo, Hansel, Gretel, a treasure chest, and more. Stacked Wilds help players to complete winning lines or improve existing winners, and the game is packed with features and bonuses that really need to be explored in person to be appreciated fully.

There are three bonuses that can be triggered in this game. A Candy House Bonus presents you with a cottage covered in tasty looking sweets, each of which represents a different multiplier value, and the aim is to select the sweet that you want to keep and hope that you’ve chosen one of the bigger multipliers. In addition, a Coin Win Bonus and a Free Spins Bonus deliver exactly what they advertise.

The graphics in Hansel and Gretel are very impressive, but the audio is even better, and helps to provide a richly immersive atmosphere that should be more than enough to satisfy the most demanding of players. Add in the chance to win big, and this is a game about which NetEnt is justifiably proud.

"The latest chapter in our Fairytale Legends series is another thoroughly enchanting one," said Simon Hammon, chief product officer of NetEnt. "With its engaging features and breathtaking design, the game demonstrates NetEnt’s creative capabilities at their best. Hansel and Gretel is a fantastic follow-up to Red Riding Hood and we look forward to continuing the story later in the year – watch this space!’

Hansel and Gretel can be played at Mr Green Casino and other venues that offer NetEnt titles.
