Microgaming has been at the forefront of online gaming software development for over two decades, but it isn’t a company that has rested on its laurels. On the contrary, Microgaming has created in excess of 800 unique gaming titles and earned dozens of industry accolades, with its two most recent – for Digital Product of the Year and Digital Gaming Innovation – being presented at the 2015 Global Gaming Awards ceremony in Las Vegas.

The Digital Product of the Year award was won for Microgaming’s ground-breaking Jurassic Park title. This is an online slot game that has to be played to be believed, because it features some of the most immersive graphics, audio and gameplay ever seen, and boasts ‘Parallax Scrolling’ effects which help to make the action on the screen appear far more three dimensional than it really is.

Microgaming has now won the Digital Product of the Year award for two years running. In 2014 it won the award for its Terminator 2 online slot, so it seems that Microgaming knows exactly how to translate big screen movie action into slots titles that make waves. Will it score again with another movie-based title in 2016? Only time will tell.

The Digital Gaming Innovation award was won for Microgaming’s VR Roulette game which employs wearable technology to immerse the player in an authentic 3D environment. The player wears an Oculus Rift headset to take a virtual seat a roulette table, then uses hand motions to play the game. It is as close an experience to playing at a physical casino that a roulette fan can get using current technology, and yet another indicator that Microgaming is still pushing the boundaries.

‘We are so proud to win not one but two awards at this highly prestigious and credible award ceremony,’ said Roger Raatgever, who is CEO of Microgaming. ‘Jurassic Park is an incredible game and the fact that the experience is just as impressive on mobile as it is online really does blow people away. But to win an award for innovation is particularly close to my heart as we have always worked so hard to stay several steps ahead of the industry, predicting trends and ensuring that our content works on emerging technology. For those that have seen our slots work on smart watches and experienced our VR Roulette product, it is an incredible insight into the future of online gaming. A big thanks and well done to my team for this huge achievement!’

We congratulate Microgaming on winning these awards. Those of you who would like to play the Jurassic Park game that was named Digital Product of the Year for 2015 can do so by visiting 32Red Casino or any other venue that is powered by Microgaming.
