Microgaming venues which offer online poker are preparing for the Festival of Speed, which begins this Thursday 8 June and concludes on Sunday 25 June. Organised by the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN), the festival boasts plenty of up-tempo poker games in a variety of formats, and many players will be able to get involved even when they are out and about, thanks to Microgaming’s newly upgraded mobile poker client.

The main attraction of the Festival of Speed is a series of Super Turbo tournaments that will collectively guarantee an impressive €50,000 in prize money. The Super Turbo series will comprise 39 separate events, and buy-ins will start from as little as €1.10, making them easily accessible to players at all levels.

For players who like to get down to business with a minimum of fuss or waiting, there will also be plenty of Turbo and Super Turbo Sit & Go tournaments to enjoy. The buy-ins for these range from €1 to €20, and players can increase their chances of picking up some added cash by increasing the number of events they participate in.

A mini-game known as Blazing Cannon will give players the opportunity of winning up to €100. All they need to do is participate in Blaze Poker games and, for every 20 pots that they win, they will be given a shot at the bonus game, which involves firing a cannonball into a house of cards.

Players who participate in all three formats offered in the Festival of Speed (Super Turbo, Sit & Go and Blaze) will be able to earn themselves a seat in a €5,000 Festival Flash Freeroll which is scheduled to take place on Sunday 2 July, so the festival excitement will continue through to next month too.

‘In summer players don’t have as much time to spend at the tables,’ said Alex Scott, who is Head of Product (Network Games) at Microgaming. ‘There are family BBQs to go to, festivals to attend, and heatwaves to complain about. Therefore, it’s the perfect time for the MPN to focus on high-speed play. Players can take part in some top-notch poker action without having to stay indoors for hours on end – that’s what the Festival of Speed delivers!’

There are still a couple of days to go until the Festival of Speed begins on Thursday, so feel free to get in a little practice play in the meantime, and good luck at the tables!
