Edgar Rice Burroughs introduced Tarzan to the world way back in 1912, in his novel Tarzan of the Apes. The novel told the story of John Clayton III, who was born in the jungles of Africa but was adopted by a female ape called Kala after his parents died. The infant was named Tarzan in ape-language and was raised as one of their own, becoming King of the Apes himself before eventually meeting Jane Porter and rediscovering his identity as Lord Greystoke.
Tarzan appeared in two-dozen books that were penned exclusively by Burroughs, and then in more novels that were partly or wholly penned by other authors. He is also the most filmed character in the history of movies, having been played by no fewer than 29 actors, and has inspired countless comic books, computer games, television dramas, stage plays and more.
Thanks to this new licensing deal, Tarzan will soon be coming to online casinos too, giving players the chance to immerse themselves in his world and relive some of his adventures as they pursue generous cash prizes. The first Tarzan slot will be released on desktop and mobile later this year.
‘Tarzan is recognised the world over, so we’re excited to be launching a slot hosted by this timeless character,’ said Roger Raatgever, who is Chief Executive Officer at Microgaming. ‘Our highly talented games team relish working with a new brand, to build a game that celebrates and embraces it. Having seen the game in prototype, I can honestly say the online slot will not disappoint Tarzan fans; operators and their players can look forward to the game’s release this winter.’
James Sullos, who is President of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc, is equally excited about the new agreement. ‘We could not be more pleased to license Tarzan and his friends to such a quality company as Microgaming,’ he said. ‘Their extensive experience in developing online slot games assures us they will build a game that will attract many fans and players to the game from around the globe.’
