Gambling software supplier Playtech has recently completed the largest ever Live Casino customer migration to its state-of-the-art studio in Riga, the capital city of Latvia. The site, which boasts 8,500 square metres, is said to ‘dwarf any existing Live Casino area in the market today’, and migrating its customers there was a huge undertaking which began last year. Now the migration is complete, and Playtech are all set to continue their Live Casino dominance well into the future.

When players sit down to play Live Casino games at their chosen online casino, they don’t often think about how much work it takes behind the scenes to provide that experience. That isn’t really a negative thing, because the mark of a casino operator doing a good job in that respect is to make the background work appear invisible, but it is sometimes good to pause and appreciate the efforts being made on behalf of the player.

How Live Casinos Work

Presenting a Live Casino game to players involves a whole lot more than putting a video camera in front of a gaming table and hiring a croupier to spin the roulette wheel or deal the cards. It also involves being able to stream the action live and with minimal latency from multiple angles, allow time for players to place their bets no matter where they happen to be located, ensure that the game is completely fair at all times, and in many cases to allow players to interact with each other, as well as with the croupiers themselves.

Now consider that many online casinos offer several different Live Casino games around the clock, seven days a week, and that a company like Playtech has to deliver all of those games to all of the venues on its platform. Clearly, the logistics of such a task are considerable, and so it makes a lot of sense for Playtech to want to centralise such operations as much as possible.

Playtech Live Casinos

Playtech already has several Live Casino studios, but the new one at Riga is now the largest in the world, and it has been set up to allow for expansion of its Live Casino offerings in the years to come. Migrating its customers to this new studio involved maintaining existing operations at the same time in order to continue providing seamless service to end users, and Playtech managed to do that quite flawlessly by adopting a very well planned phased approach which took several months to execute.

‘Playtech demonstrates its absolute commitment to delivering the best Live Casino experience and this project is significant testimony to it,’ said Shimon Akad, who is Chief Operating Officer at the company. ‘From making one of our largest ever investments and redeveloping this site into the world’s largest Live Casino studio, to completing the largest Live customer migration ever seen, it’s been an exhilarating, non-stop journey and there is much more to come.’

He continued: ‘Licensees and potential new operators visiting the new and innovative studio have been blown away at the operation we have here now. They have been so excited to see the huge progress we’ve made in creating unique dedicated experiences and word is spreading fast to other operators in the market. Getting to this stage so quickly and without any issues is due to the enormous dedication of the team. I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to this project for achieving what is, without a doubt, the world’s most cutting-edge, best-performing, next generation Live studio.’

We congratulate Playtech on this enormous achievement, and we look forward to seeing how its Live Casino offerings continue to evolve in the future. Players who wish to experience Live Casino games being broadcast from the new studio can do so by visiting Ladbrokes Casino and other venues on the Playtech platform.
