Hawaii Woman Leaves Las Vegas Casino with $10.7 Million

A woman from Hawaii walked away from a Las Vegas casino with a jackpot worth over $10.7 million. The life-changing payout came courtesy of a penny slot machine at the Wynn casino after the lucky player wagered just $3.

The Wynn Las Vegas casino and hotel confirmed that the fortuitous winner from Oahu hit the jackpot worth $10,777,270.51 at around 9pm on Sunday 21st August. The woman, who has decided to remain anonymous, was playing on an IGT Megabucks Wynn Wheel machine when the eight-figure jackpot dropped. While she’s one of the biggest Vegas winners in recent memory, she will need to put 11 percent aside for taxes on her winnings by the state of Hawaii.

Despite her colossal win, the woman was still some way off the record for the largest-ever casino win in Vegas. That honour remains with a software engineer from Los Angeles who scooped a jackpot of over $39.7 million after placing a $100 wager on a Megabucks machine at the Excalibur resort in 2003. Nevertheless, this latest win will be one that the Hawaiian won’t be forgetting in a hurry.
