The Grosvenor Casino at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry is getting set for the Goliath 2017 poker tournament, which will take place from Saturday 29 July until Sunday 6 August. The Goliath is the biggest live poker tournament in Europe, and although its guaranteed prize pool is stated as £250,000, the actual prize pool is likely to be much larger.

In 2016, the Goliath tournament received 5,232 entries, which was over 1,000 more than it attracted in the previous year. That gave the 2016 prize pool a final value of £523,200, and this year’s tournament looks set to be just as big, and possibly even bigger.

The direct buy-in to this tournament is an incredibly modest £100 + £20, so many players who are confident of their ability and have a decent bankroll will no doubt choose to buy themselves a ticket without a second thought. Those who would prefer to enter the tournament for a lesser sum, or to prove themselves before they get to the main event, can do so by participating in satellite events.

Satellites are running at Grosvenor Casinos around the country, so you needn’t go to Coventry to have a shot at winning yourself a seat in the Main Event. Simply visit our Local Casino Reviews section to find your nearest Grosvenor Casino and give them a call to find out when the Goliath satellite games are being held at the venue.

Those of you who would prefer to have a go at winning yourself a seat in the 2017 Goliath tournament without even leaving your home can do so by participating in online satellites at Grosvenor Casino. Online satellites give you a chance of qualifying for a matter of pennies, so literally anyone of legal age with an internet connection – regardless of their bankroll – could find themselves winning their way to Coventry.

Last year’s Goliath winner, Vamshi Vandanapu, had only cashed nine times before walking away from Grosvenor Coventry some £62,750 richer, so it really isn’t necessary to be a poker star in order to take the top prize. Good luck to those of you who try your hand at repeating Vamshi’s success this year, and be sure to let us know if you win big!
