Microgaming will release Castle Builder II, which is the sequel to its innovative online slot title Castle Builder, in the second quarter of this year. To celebrate and promote awareness of the new game, the company provided a themed bar at last week’s ICE 2017 Totally Gaming Conference in London. The centrepiece of the bar was a fantastic sandcastle that was built live, and which represented one of the main castles that players will be able to construct in the game itself.

Castle Builder broke new ground when it was released in partnership with Rabcat a few years ago because it successfully bridged online gaming and social gamification – an achievement that led to the title being nominated for the EGR Game of the Year award in 2013. The original title combined a five-reel slot with a multi-level gaming quest that involved collecting various materials and using them to build intricate castles, and that combination of the chance to win big with an ongoing narrative proved extremely popular with players everywhere.

Castle Builder II will expand on that success, with the new title offering players three avatars to choose from, each with a different storyline, as well as a brand new world of 15 kingdoms to explore. Players will be able to build 75 different castles and interact with more than 300 characters along the way.

‘We have had great success with Castle Builder, launching the game to over 80 operators worldwide,’ said Thomas Schleischitz, who is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rabcat. ‘The second instalment provides extended gameplay and high replay value by way of more kingdoms, more levels, and more achievements. By embracing the concept of unlocking content and continuous progression, the game encourages players to come back for more.’

David Reynolds, games publisher at Microgaming, was equally enthusiastic about the new title. ‘We’ve been very excited about the launch of Castle Builder II, a game that is designed with gamification at the forefront and that successfully sends players on an adventure to build the finest of castles,’ he said. ‘With more characters, kingdoms and castles than its very popular predecessor, we anticipate this game to be a massive success. The focus has been to extend the game life cycle and keep players engaged as they embark on an epic adventure.’

We look forward to playing Castle Builder II when it is released in the second quarter of this year. In the meantime, readers who have not yet experienced the superbly satisfying concept can play the original Castle Builder title at Mr Green Casino and other venues on the Microgaming platform.
