The world record was secured thanks to 3,173 players participating in a ‘TournEvent of Champions’ slots tournament that was free to enter and offered cash and prizes worth over $100,000. An official from Guinness World Records was present to adjudicate the event – a task that took more than 13 hours – and the eventual winner was a player named Benigno T.
Benigno won a cash prize of $21,000 and will also get to play for $1 million in a TournEvent of Champions championship event that is set to take place in Las Vegas in September. Even better, he now has the not insignificant accolade of being known as the winner of the biggest slots tournament in history. How long that claim to fame lasts depends on how long the associated world record lasts, but for now, at least, he and the casino operators have plenty to celebrate.
‘This is a thrilling honour not just for Muckleshoot Casino, but for the incredible 3,173 players who hold this record with us equally,’ said the venue’s General Manager, Conrad Granito. ‘Their spirited enthusiasm, combined with the exhilarating fun of Everi's TournEvent of Champions, created a winning combination.’
Linda Trinh, who is Vice President of Marketing & Promotions at Everi, the games company that makes TournEvent tournaments possible, was equally thrilled with the world record accomplishment. ‘We've held hundreds of TournEvent of Champions slot tournaments over the past five years, but this one was definitely the most memorable and the perfect way to kick off this year's campaign,’ she said.
‘We are proud to be a part of this historic event and want to thank Muckleshoot Casino, as well as all the players, who helped make this our biggest TournEvent of Champions tournament to date.’
