Palm Beach Casino, London imac

Situated in the heart of Mayfair, the Palm Beach Casino is one of the most exclusive casinos in London. It has a great central London location very close to Green Park tube station, and is actually situated in The Mayfair Hotel’s former Grand Art Deco Ballroom. Players are surrounded by opulence as they enter, and the lavish interior is impressive. We especially like the palm tree shaped chandelier hanging centrally from the ceiling.

The casino is open for 24 hours a day which so there is no issue for punters who wish to have a gamble late at night. You don’t have to become a member to play, but you cannot collect more than £1,500 if you’re not.  The dress code is smart casual, so make sure you’re at least wearing smart jeans and a shirt upon arrival.

Layout and outdoor areas

The casino floor instantly grabs your attention as you walk in. The decor and tables look expensive, and they are. This is both a relaxing and stylish place to gamble.

You will find the typical games across the casino floor; blackjack, roulette, three card poker, and punto banco. It’s usually relatively busy in the evenings, but there are usually a few spaces at the tables. Oddly the slot machines are dotted around the edge of the casino floor and not together in one central place. Given the high end part of London in which the casino is situated, the minimum bets are generally higher than usual which can price a few people out from wanting to get involved.

The poker room is completely separate which is preferred by most. Again we see a luxurious decor and it’s a very relaxing place to play poker. The room has six tables and can therefore hold up to sixty players. Whilst you can join cash games, unfortunately they do not hold tournaments here.

There is a small outdoor space; a covered terrace area for smokers which is close to the reception. The casino also tenders well for VIP and private customers. There is a private gaming area along with a private entrance for the higher paying clients.

Atmosphere and amenities

Atmosphere

You could say the clientele here are slightly more reserved, and there seems less of a buzz to the casino floor than most casinos we’ve visited. Whilst there are still some loud celebrations after a big win, it all just seems a bit more laid back and muted than most.

Restaurants and bars

The bar is very modern but at the same time an informal place to relax and have a drink. The white leather chairs and expensive lighting continue the alluring theme. They have an extensive range of drinks, more so than a lot of UK casinos we’ve visited. You can buy bar snacks here, but the food really starts to become an attraction when you sit down in the main restaurant. The food has an international feel, surely to attend to the needs of the worldwide clientele.  We had a steak dinner which was marvellous. Someone from our party commended the chef which meant he even came out to say hello.

Music

The casino has a DJ in the main bar area most nights. This is complemented by themed nights that run every Sunday from 10pm.

Staff

We weren’t particularly enamoured with the gaming staff. They weren’t that welcoming and didn’t really want to chat. They were well trained and dealing routines were fine, but overall they didn’t seem too friendly.

Palm Beach Casino Summary

If you’re looking for affluence and prefer a slightly quieter casino this is definitely for you. The layout and decor definitely impresses too. However if you prefer somewhere a bit more casual with a bit more of a buzz, then there are plenty of other casinos close by in London.
