Where to find themPositioning the best slot machines is an art that many casinos like to pretend doesn’t exist. Casinos would like players to assume that slots games are positioned randomly throughout the establishment, but in reality nothing in a casino is randomly placed – everything is very carefully located to help the casino make the maximum amount of money over the long term.
That said, all slot managers handle the placement of their machines on the casino slot floor differently – each according to the dictates of his own theory. Since theories differ from manager to manager, you would be very hard-pressed to meet two casino executives who are in total agreement about their slot mix.
For example, some casino managers will put their best slot machines (loose slots) close to the buffet, so that once a player has finished licking the ketchup from his lips, he can’t wait to get back to the machines that he can hear paying out again and again. Other casino managers do the exact opposite, and put tight machines by the buffet so that players waiting in line for their food can be fleeced. The reasoning here is that the players will probably feel sleepy after their meal and may head to their rooms, so taking their money before they eat their food ensures it stays with the casino.
What all casino managers agree on is that the positioning of their best slot machines is important. You can therefore be sure that the machines you find in your favourite casino have been positioned very carefully, and not simply set down wherever there happened to be a bit of space handy.
