Playing Roulette Dozens

Playing Roulette DozensOnline roulette players have a wide choice of bets that they can place on each spin of the wheel, and although even money and single number bets are both hugely popular, playing the dozens in roulette is also quite common. As regular players will know, the roulette dozens bet allows you to bet on 12 numbers at once, and if any one of your numbers comes up you are paid off at odds of 2/1, so a £5 bet would return you £15, giving you a profit of £10. In this article we suggest three different ways of playing the dozens that could be of use to new and experienced players.

1 – Progressive Roulette Dozens
The progressive roulette dozens approach is to select one of the three available dozens bet and employ a progressive staking strategy to try and make a profit if the selected dozen wins within a finite number of bets. Start by selecting one of the dozens and bet 1 point. If the bet loses, bet 2 points on the same dozen for the next spin. If the bet loses again, bet 4 points on the same dozen for a third spin. If you have three losing dozen bets then you should quit and take the 7 point loss on the chin, and if any of your dozens bets wins you should also quit betting and take your 1 point profit. Staking progressions other than 1-2-4 can also be experimented with if you would prefer to continue betting beyond three losing spins and/or pursue larger potential profits.

2 – Play Two Roulette Dozens
Playing two of the three dozens at once allows you to cover 24 of the 37 numbers on a European roulette wheel, so you have a 64.86% chance of winning on each spin, which is better than the 48.64% chance of success that you would have betting on red, black, odd or even. If you bet 1 point on each of the two selected dozens and either one of your bets wins, you would get 3 points back, giving you a profit of 1 point. This makes the overall odds for the two bets combined 3/2, and you can either bet level stakes or use a progression, as you prefer.

3 – Watch the Roulette Dozens
Our third approach to the roulette dozens is to watch them for a few spins and take note of how often each dozen wins. Then, after as many spins as you think is sufficient (12 is as good a number as any), you can identify the dozen that has enjoyed the least amount of success and start betting on it using the Progressive Roulette Dozens strategy described earlier. The idea here is that the selected dozen could be viewed as being more “due” to hit than the other two, and if it does so within three spins you will make a profit. Of course, the selected dozen may not hit within three spins, but when you consider that roulette is a game of luck, we think that this approach to the dozens is just as good as either of the other two.

Whichever approach appeals to you, try it out using small stakes to begin with (or at a free roulette wheel if you prefer), then proceed as your bankroll and attitude toward risk allows, and good luck!
