Mobile sports betting could soon become a lot more accessible thanks to a new deal that has been announced between online sports betting company William Hill and Mfuse, a leading mobile-enabling technology provider.
We have all been in situations where we have wanted to place a bet away from our PC or check on how an existing bet is performing. Traditionally our only options in these respects have been to visit a bookmaker’s shop on the High Street or make a phone call to a bookie. The problem with the first option is that it isn’t always convenient to go to the bookies, and the problem with the second is that we can’t make a phone call just to ask for the latest scores or results.
Fortunately, mobile phone technology has advanced considerably over recent years, and we are no longer restricted to making voice calls or sending and receiving texts. Today’s mobile phones allow us to check our emails, browse the internet and even play games, so it was only a matter of time before mobile sports betting was conceived as something that the masses might be interested in.
The new deal between Mfuse and William Hill will allow sports betting enthusiasts to sign up with William Hill sportsbook directly from their mobile phones. Existing members will be able to log in via their mobiles using their regular details. Once logged in, they will then be able to make deposits and withdrawals, check the latest sports betting odds, place bets (including multiples and bets in-running) and generally do most of what they can do when using a personal computer.
“We are committed to continually push the boundaries of mobile betting technology and deliver reliable services with a high level of support,” said Charles Palmer, who is Marketing Director of Mfuse. “This focus has enabled Mfuse to work with a number of industry leaders over the years and the collaboration with William Hill offers further evidence of our growing stature.
“William Hill will benefit from our unrivalled handset and network technology, meaning their customers will enjoy an easy to use betting experience from their mobile phones,” Charles added.
A downloadable Java version of the new software will be available in 2009. If you like the idea of mobile sports betting, be sure to make a note in your diary to keep an eye out for it.
