Fifty casino, part of the private members club in St James, London may close or be sold according to a report in The Times. Upset at Government hikes in duty, the smoking ban and Labour’s unashamed u-turn over in scrapping high-jackpot slot machines, the owners believe Fifty would be better off concentrating on its bars and restaurant.
Fifty Casino is currently owned by Robert Earl, the man behind Planet Hollywood and London Clubs International. However, they would not be on their own in feeling the squeeze brought on by the current Government's mishandling of almost every sector of the economy, it seems "Les A" can't get their sale away in the current climate. Les Ambassaduers on Park Lane was due to be sold for £75 million to Las Vegas gambling heavyweight Sheldon Adelson, but the deal has been called off for the third time.
