The eGaming Review Awards for 2009 have recently been presented to those online gaming operators who, in the eyes of the eGaming Review (one of the leading magazines for those who work in the online gambling industry) have excelled in various areas. The EGR winner of the highly coveted Operator of the Year award was Bwin, with Bet365 receiving a special commendation.
Because the eGaming Review Awards cover the entire spectrum of online gambling, awards went to companies offering online bingo and online poker as well as online casinos. Some of the most notable award-winners and commendations that online gambling enthusiasts will recognise were as follows:
888 was declared Casino Operator of the Year.
Betfair won the award for UK Sports Betting Operator of the Year.
PartyPoker received the award for Poker Operator of the Year, with PKR receiving a special commendation.
Cashcade, the operator of Foxy Bingo, won the award for Bingo Operator of the Year.
Although some people who enjoy online casino gaming might view such award ceremonies as little more than corporate back-slapping exercises, the importance of the eGaming Review Awards (and others of a similar nature) should not be underestimated.
Online gaming companies are every bit as competitive as professionals in other business sectors, and the opportunity to beat other companies (and gain valuable marketing clout at the same time) is one that they take very seriously. That drive to win a respected online gaming award means that the companies involved are always looking for ways to improve their products and services as well as the behind-the-scenes technology that they use to deliver those products and services to online gamblers.
Overall we are pleased with the recipients of the EGR Awards 2009, and with the fact that many companies that we have highlighted in our own online casino reviews either won or made the shortlists in various categories.
There is no doubt that 2009 has brought us some fantastic online gambling innovations. We have seen the first ever Grand Slam of Slots tournament produce a €1,000,000 winner, the introduction of multi-player slots with the Multi-Player Wheel of Wealth Special Edition from Microgaming and mobile gaming has evolved from a cute concept to become every bit as serious as online gaming.
We will of course review the year in full as we draw closer to the end of 2009, but it is already clear that companies striving to be the best have improved our online gambling experience in many ways. We congratulate the eGaming Review Award winners and look forward to enjoying their wares for many more years to come.
