Craps table losers aren’t very difficult to spot if you know what to look for, and all experienced dealers certainly know what to look for. Here are the ten tell-tale signs of craps table losers. Avoid making these mistakes and let others make them instead!
– Player does not take odds on his Pass Line bet after establishing a point, but makes a wager anywhere else on the table.
– Player makes a minimum wager on the Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line and wins, then makes another minimum wager. This kind of player is known as a Grinder because he repeatedly grinds out small bets.
– Player makes a wager on the Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line and loses, then doubles up his stake and continues to double up. This kind of player is known as a Chaser because he chases his losses – usually until he’s completely broke.
– Player makes a wager on the Pass Line and also on any proposition bet. This player thinks he is “buying insurance” but he’s really playing ineffectively.
– Player consistently or even occasionally makes a wager on the “Big Red” 7. Bets on 7 give the house the biggest edge in the game: 16.67% to be exact.
– Player wagers over £5 on the Corner 6 or 8.
– Player wagers on Hardway 4 and/or 10.
– Player wagers on the Pass Line after a point has already been established. Sometimes this is an accident, as many hurried players make this wager without checking the puck to see if a point has already been established. Good dealers will inform the player that he is wagering on a specific point (a subtle way of telling them that they are not making an intelligent wager).
– Player does not “Go Behind” or “Take” the Don’t 6 and/or 8.
– Proposition or Field Player who plays on a table with “Strip” odds on the 2, 3, 11 and 12 or Field where both 2 and 12 only pay 2 to 1.
So that’s how to spot a craps table loser. Avoid making the mistakes outlined above and you’ll do yourself a lot of favours.
