Craps Nicknames

Whenever a shooter throws the dice at a craps table it is certain that the resulting total will be one of 11 numbers (2 to 12), but there are many more possible dice combinations. Whilst the results of a throw will often be called by the casino as a simple total, many craps players like to refer to the various combinations using craps nicknames. The most famous of these is of course Snake Eyes, which refers to 1-1, but there are nicknames for all other combinations. The most common craps nicknames are as follows:

2-4 : Easy Six, Jimmy Hicks

2-6 : Easy Eight

3-6 : Nina

4-4 : Hard Eight, Square Pair

4-5 : Nina, Jesse James

4-6 : Easy Ten

5-5 : Hard Ten, Puppy Paws

5-6 : Yo’leven

6-6 : Boxcars, Midnight

The craps nicknames provided here are not the only ones in use, and if you were to visit a regional offline casino then you might well hear more local nicknames. Of course, there is no need for any online craps player to know about these nicknames in order to play the game, but being familiar with them can certainly make the game a little more interesting. Knowing the craps nicknames can also be useful if you enjoy playing multiplayer craps games, because some or all of your fellow players may use the nicknames in conversation, and if you don’t know what they mean you could easily lose track of what is being said.
