Vegas Strip Blackjack

Vegas Strip Blackjack is much like any other game of blackjack, but Vegas Strip uses four decks of standard playing cards. The aim of the game is still to try and get a higher hand total than the dealer without going over 21, and a winning hand is paid out at odds of 1:1 unless you have a blackjack, in which case you will be paid 3:2.

Other important rules are as follows:

• The dealer receives his hole card and peeks for a blackjack if his up-card is a 10-value or ace before players begin to play.

• The dealer must stand on all hands totalling 17 or higher. This reduces his chance of busting, but increases the chances of a player’s 18 or 19 being successful.

• Players can double down on any two card hand, even after a split.

• Players can split up to three times to create a maximum of four separate hands. However, a pair of aces can only be split once.

• Any two 10-value cards can be split (for example KQ).

• If you split a pair of aces, each hand can only receive one more card. If that card is a 10-value, the hand counts as 21 and pays 1:1 – not a blackjack which pays 3:2.

Many readers who have already been playing blackjack online may already have played Vegas Strip blackjack without realising it. The differences between Vegas Strip blackjack and Atlantic City blackjack are not nearly as significant as the difference between either of those games and Spanish blackjack. That said, now that you are aware of what the Vegas Strip game is all about, you may be better able to appreciate its subtle differences.
