Blackjack In Spades

Blackjack in spades is what most players like to see when they’re at the table, and we’re not just talking metaphorically if they happen to be sitting in a casino which offers double payoffs for a blackjack where both cards are spades.

The bonus for a blackjack in spades actually has some historical significance. The game of 21 got its name blackjack because in the early days players were rewarded extra if they got an Ace and Jack of spades as their first two cards. In a single deck game of blackjack, there are 1,326 possible two-card combinations, and paying the customer a tad more than 3-2 for a suited blackjack in spades won’t happen often enough to damage the casino’s profits.

Of course, most casinos have done away with this historical bonus, but a few still offer it, even if only on a temporary basis for promotional purposes. As long as the rest of the rules are what you would expect as a player, if you are fortunate to find a casino offering double payoffs for blackjack in spades, it makes sense to take advantage of the opportunity.

Some players, who are aware of the historical significance discussed a moment ago, believe that the term “natural” blackjack has to consist of a black jack (clubs, spades) and a black ace, but this is not currently the case. A natural can be any two-card hand that adds up to 21. For example, an ace of diamonds and a 10 of hearts would be considered a blackjack natural despite the fact that both cards are actually red.
