Blackjack Betting

Blackjack BettingBlackjack betting, as you might have guessed, refers to the bets you place when playing a game of blackjack. Any blackjack chart will tell the online blackjack player when he should hit, stand, double-down or split, but how does the player know how much to bet on each hand in the first place?

Some players never really think about the size of their blackjack bets, and simply put down whatever they happen to feel is appropriate at the time. The problem with such an intuitive approach is that it isn’t one that is most effective in maximising your profits when you get into the habit of winning by following basic strategy.

A more sensible approach to blackjack betting is to establish a bankroll and then set aside a percentage of that bankroll for a particular session. You can then divide that session bank into a series of smaller bets.

For example, if you have £600 that you can afford to use to play blackjack, you might decide to use 10% of that bankroll for any given session, and to divide that session bankroll into 20 bets. In that case, your session bank would be £60 and you would be able to place 20 x £3 bets.

The advantage of this approach is that your future session banks will rise or fall according to how well or badly you are doing. If you lose your £60 session bank, your overall bankroll would fall to £540. In that case your next session bank would be £54. On the other hand, if you managed to double your session bank of £60, your overall bankroll would be £660, and your next session bank would therefore be £66.

Of course, you have to be sensible when blackjack betting using this method, because sometimes a session bank won’t divide neatly into 20 bets. In that case you must round down to the nearest usable stake. For example, a session bank of £66 allows 20 bets of £3.30, but you make decide that betting in £3 units is more feasible.

Whether you choose to follow our advice and be a little more deliberate and logical when it comes to blackjack betting is up to you, but the approach outlined here has a lot going for it, so do give it some consideration.
