Baccarat Bankrolls

Baccarat BankrollsBaccarat is a very elegant game that was once the exclusive domain of the social elite, but fortunately times have changed and anyone of legal age can now play the game at virtually all online casinos. Online baccarat is essentially Punto Banco, a game of luck rather than skill, so you won’t be able to influence the odds as you might when playing Chemin de Fer at a bricks and mortar casino in Monte Carlo (James Bond style). You can, however, minimise your chances of going broke in a single session by learning to use what we call ‘baccarat bankrolls’.

A baccarat bankroll is a sum of money that you set aside for the sole purpose of playing baccarat online. As with all online gambling bankrolls, it should consist only of money that you can afford to lose should Lady Luck decide to slap you around in a rather vicious manner. Obviously we all hope that she won’t be that cruel, but poor runs of results can and do occur in baccarat as they can and do in other games, so preparing for a worst case scenario is always a good idea.

Having established a baccarat bankroll, make it a rule never to put all of it at risk on any given day. By all means take 10% or 20% of your baccarat bankroll to the table (or even less, if you prefer to be more cautious) but never risk more than 20% in one session. Adhering to this rule ensures that you will never lose your entire baccarat bankroll all at once, so you will live to play another day even if Lady Luck turns nasty.

Next, be sensible about how you use the amount of money that you do decide to take to the online casino baccarat tables. Instead of betting according to hunch or instinct, choose a more strategic approach that you have confidence in. For example, you might decide to use baccarat progressions, in which case you would divide your session budget by the relevant number of points required to play a particular progression.

If you play as planned and you end your session with a profit, you can either return all of the cash to your baccarat bankroll so that you can afford to risk slightly more in your next session, or you can withdraw some of the profit for your own use and return the rest to the baccarat bankroll. On the other hand, if you have a losing session then you will need to return any cash that you have left (if any) to the baccarat bankroll and play with a slight smaller amount in your next session.

These suggestions about baccarat bankrolls aren’t set in stone by any means, so if you have better ideas about how to manage your money sensibly you should of course pursue them. The important point to take from this is that having a well thought out baccarat bankroll can eliminate the risk of losing everything in one bad session, and thereby increase your enjoyment of the game every time you play.
