Sizing up Miss World

After undertaking the arduous and tiring task of studying each contestant in fine detail, and dealing with the inevitable sexist jokes about who they want to “lay” – the sportingodds.com traders have priced up the runners in Miss World 2006.

The 56th Miss World contest takes place in Warsaw, Poland on the 30th of September, 2006. The contestants have been getting to know the surroundings of the famous city and have even performed their own Miss World talent show to thousands of locals.

Miss Australia (Sabrina Houssami) and Miss Venezuela (Alexandra Federica Guzman Diamante) are our 7/1 joint favourites. Sabrina is from Sydney and is a full time university student, she has a dog called Devious and lists more hobbies and interests than her rival Miss Venezuela has names. Alexandra is from Caracas and works as a television hostess, her motto is “all’s well that ends well” – something her backers would surely echo.

The crown has gone to Miss India three times in the last ten years and this year’s representative – Natasha Suri – is available at 10/1.

The European challenge is headed up by Miss Northern Ireland – Catherine Jean Milligan – at 16/1. Usual suspects Miss Sweden and Miss Iceland are priced at 25/1 and 28/1 respectively. Winners from Iceland, Ireland, Turkey and Greece have all featured in the last ten contests.

The new Borat film won’t be the only thing upsetting the Kazakhstan government as we make their contestant - Sabina Chukayeva - the 250/1 outsider.

A full list of contestants can be thoroughly studied at www.missworld.tv and when you’ve got your fancy you can find a full list of prices at www.sportingodds.com.
