Next England Manager

The knives are out for Sven Goran Eriksson after England’s shambolic display in the 1-0 defeat against Northern Ireland in the World Cup qualifier in Belfast. There have been calls for his resignation and VC Bet have issued prices on the “Next Permanent England Manager” market.

Eriksson’s present assistant Steve McClaren is a firm favourite at 6-4 and there has already been interest in the 4-1 offered about Charlton’s Alan Curbishley. Martin O’Neill who is presently out of management due to his wife’s illness is third best with VC Bet at 5-1 with Bolton’s Sam Allardyce available at 10-1.

Neal Wilkins of VC Bet commented “The pathetic performance in Belfast on the back of a very moderate one against Wales has led the media and supporters both to believe it is time for the cold Swede to go. Many people feel that a new broom is required and if that is the case then Alan Curbishley could prove a worthy successor to Eriksson. He may have gone as far as he can with Charlton and would relish the opportunity to operate on the biggest stage of them all”.
