$2 Million Progressive Payout

WMS Gaming has announced the largest ever progressive jackpot win on a WMS game. The lucky player, who has asked to remain anonymous, won $2,041,324 whilst playing a slot machine called Powerball - It’s America’s Game in the Hilton at Las Vegas.

Casino patrons all over the world play games that have been designed and manufactured by WMS. Monopoly Big Event, Multi-Play Poker Plus, Riches of the Pharaoh and World Series of Poker are just four of the machines that, along with Powerball, have helped WMS to establish a global reputation for providing top quality entertainment. Another strength of the company is that it routinely takes new and innovative steps technologically, and this has helped to make it an industry leader in every sense of the term.

The WMS Powerball slot machine takes its name from the famous Powerball lottery in the USA that is played twice a week (every Wednesday and Saturday) in 29 states as well as in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia. As well as a main wide-area progressive jackpot, the Powerball game features a “3x3 Matrix Progressive”, which is three rows and three columns of individual local area progressive jackpots. If a player triggers this matrix they have the chance to win anything from one to all nine of these local area jackpots for a single bet.

The player who broke the record for winning the largest ever WMS progressive jackpot had enjoyed a business dinner at the Las Vegas Hilton and afterwards decided to try his luck on the Powerball five-reel video machine because, in his words, he thought it had “lots of action going”. He spent around $120 on the game for a return of over $2 million, which is a pretty good evening of business in anyone’s book.

There have been 68 progressive jackpots paid out on WMS wide-area machines since the first one was launched almost three years ago in mid 2004.
